A Private Piece of Prothero

I have many passions and interests. From an obsession with football & rugby to my love for comedy, history, music, animals and travel.

The art of ball kicking and throwing has had a huge impact on my life. It all started with having a season ticket to Fratton Park to watch my beloved Pompey and with travelling up north when possible to support my Grandad’s favourite Hull FC in Rugby League.

​

My love for football extended to a more professional setting when I completed my qualifications to become an FA football referee.

​

My main area of expertise is European football, specifically Serie A - which I have a particular passion for and which is reflected in my in-depth pieces written for the Cult of Calcio.

I have a great enthusiasm for music, spending much of my free time playing the guitar, or ukulele and attending rock gigs.

​

I also can often be found binging something nerdy like the extended version of Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter Films, which help me relax by allowing me to travel to extraordinary fantasy worlds.

​

I also have a great love for animals. Having owned all sorts of pets from chickens, degus and snails to your typical dogs, rabbits and cats I developed a deep connection and compassion for all 2 or 4-legged friends.

However, perhaps my most unique passion is comedy.

From a young age, I have been hooked on watching my favourite sitcoms like The Mighty Boosh, Fawlty Towers & Red Dwarf to name a few!

​

This is why you can often find me in a local pub watching stand-up comedy in pursuit of discovering the next comedic or musical talent.

​

My interests are simultaneously linked with my journalistic and career ambitions, as I hope to incorporate my passions into my work.
